ATTENTION LINDY HOP INSTRUCTORS AROUND THE WORLD!!!

If you are an instructor and are visiting Cambodia, let us know!  We would love to have the opportunity to have you teach a class or workshop here in Phnom Penh.  We would also be happy to help with your accommodation!

The list of visiting swing teachers keeps growing and growing...

Natasha & Patrick were just swingin' through Southeast Asia...

Picture

Patrick and Natasha founded their dynamic partnership in 2007, while training with the champion team the Swinging Air Force and working at Studio 88-SWING in Montreal. They have since acquired extensive performance, competition, teaching and coaching experience.

Their talent and reputation as dancers and teachers was noticed by the Cirque du Soleil, who hired them to train artists of their show "Banana Shpeel" in the art of Swing aerials.
Patrick and Natasha have appeared in several Canadian television shows; La Vie est un Cirque, La Culture pour ou Contre, Ben et Jarrod, Relève en Folie, and L'heure de Gloire.  They have even found themselves replicated hundreds of times for a Sam Roberts video clip ''Them kids''.

They just recently came back from ILHC with a 1st place in the All-Star J&J for Natasha, a 2nd place in the Balboa J&J for Patrick and a 2nd place in the Showcase division together.  They have won podium titles at ILHC, Camp Hollywood, ALHC, Boston Tea Party, Lindy Focus, Lindy on the Rocks, Swingtime in the Rockies, Swinging New England, Beantown Camp, Followlogie, New Year's Dancin' Eve, Toronto Open Swing Dance Competition, the Canadian Balboa Championships, and the Canadian Swing Championships.

You’ll surely enjoy their enthusiam, humour and their clear and detailed teaching methods in addition to Patrick’s cute French accent and Natasha’s friendly smile.  Join them at one of their workshops hosted all over the world...and in Phnom Penh this weekend!

October was MANtober...thanks to these three fun instructors!

October was a special month for PPPswings.  In an effort to recruit more men to our swing group, we invited lead instructors from around the world to help out.  Three came...and more are coming!!!

Isaac Ezer fell in love with swing dancing in 2008 when he attended a Frankie Manning workshop in his home town, Toronto. He loves the lead-and-follow of lindy hop and the feeling that anything is possible when dancing to the varied rhythms of swing music. He's also a pianist and leads a band, the Ezer Swing Five, which has been playing monthly gigs in Tokyo for over 3 years, and has performed for dancers at Hong Kong Swing Festival, Great Wall Swingout, and Camp Swing It in Seoul, Korea. He dances lindy hop, balboa, and tap.  http://www.isaacezer.com/egn-index.html.

Daniel Haran, visiting from Bangkok, Thailand, will be sharing his passion for blues with us during special blues nights and a four-hour workshop as well.

Jeff Chan, orginally from Hawaii, USA, will be visiting us from Tokyo.  Lucky us--he'll be teaching balboa lessons and a four-hour workshop on this amazing dance.

From all of us at PPPswings, thanks guys.  Jeff, you got us addicted to Balboa and we will miss your smooth moves.  Isaac, we loved your jackrabbit energy, your infectious smile and positive vibes.  And Daniel, thanks for the great tips on connection and for bringing some blues back to our scene.  You always have a home here...come back and visit anytime!

We enjoyed our lindy love affair with Brian J. Cardiff...

Picture

...but all good things must come to an end.  Sigh.

Brian showed up on our dance floor one night and rocked our lindy world.  A passionate blues dancer and lindy hopper from Argentina, Brian instantly became a devoted member of our little swing scene.  We still can't believe he has only been swing dancing for TWO YEARS... WHAT?!?!  We guess his lessons in tango, rock, and what he describes as "some experience with Latin rhythms" really paid off.

He not only danced his heart out at every single swing event in the 6 weeks he was with us, but he fine tuned us with his technically rich lessons week after week.  He also lit a blues fire while he was here, and we have every intention of keeping it burning after he's gone.  Thanks, Brian!

From all of us at Phnom Penh Pswings...Brian, we will miss you.  Everyone loves you and hopes that someday soon you will come back to visit us on the dance floor.  See you in Argentina!

Brian has been collaborating with the "Blues Playground BA" since its beginning and has participated in various dance blues recitals with Sandra Vazquez, "Christina Dall y Excipientes" in the Centro Cultural Julián Centeya, and international festivals like LHAIF and BBE. Some of his swing teachers are Ernesto Biggeri, Mariel Gastiarena, Ricky Biggeri, Gastón Fernandez and Maxi Prado.

 Another great instructor...Ben Lepp!

Picture
We were super excited to have our guest LEAD instructor back again--this time for our FOURTH Swing Out Weekend!  Ben's roots are in Oregon, USA.  He started swing dancing six years ago and the Lindy Hop was his first dance class.  While at Oregon University, he joined the Cool Shoes performance team.  He later moved to South Korea and became president of Daegu's Swing & People.  He lives in Thailand now and has been teaching swing at Bangkok's Rumpuree World Dance Studio since 2009.  Ben has taught Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, and Charleston, and he has choreographed performances for swing club parties, wedding, and Salsa Bangkok 2008 and 2009.

All the way from the States...Zazou Swing came, swung, and conquered!

Picture

Zazou Swing is the husband/wife teaching and performing duo of Todd Schmenk and Beth Donahue.  They discovered swing dancing in 1998 while planning their wedding and desperately looking for alternatives to the typical wedding reception dances.  Since being bit by the Jitterbug they have traveled far and wide to dance and teach.  After running a successful swing scene in Pennsylvania, they relocated to Rhode Island in 2006 and continue to teach and perform in the New England area...and, lucky for us...sometimes beyond.

The Saigon Swing Cats were our guest instructors for our Birthday Bash!

Picture

We HEART Stephane Laporte!

Phnom Penh Pswings has been hugely supported by the Saigon Swing Cats, and Stephane Laporte was one of the original Ho Chi Minh City swingers to help us kick off our swing scene.  Therefore it is fitting that he joined us again one year later to celebrate our birthday with a swing workshop on musicality.

Stéphane has been dancing all sorts of dances since the age of 16, from French Jive to Cuban Salsa through Capoeira. But the only coupled dance he stuck with was Swing. Even though he has been travelling for the past years, he made a point to learn wherever he lived, allowing him to meet amazing dancers during his prolonged stays in Rio de Janeiro, New York, Paris and Hong Kong. Now based in Vietnam where he teaches Lindy Hop, he's delighted to share his passion with his fellow swing dancing neighbours!

Special guest instructor from Beijing...Josh Dominick...twice!

Picture
We've had the pleasure of hosting our first MALE guest instructor, JOSHUA DOMINICK of Swing Beijing two times now!

Josh has been swing dancing in China since 2006.  He is a versatile instructor and performer of lindy hop, balboa and blues.  His enthusiasm for swing and friendliness on the dance floor are legendary here in Asia, and we are always happy to see him when he swings by.

Thanks, Josh, for giving us a jumpstart last week!  Feel free to move here anytime!
